Cinelli SuperCorsa - A Timeless Classic
Any true aficionado of classic bike frames cannot help but to have their heart skip a beat when looking at the Cinelli SuperCorsa steel racing bike. First developed in the 1950s and still using Columbus SL double butted tubing, it has been in continuous production ever since, which has to be some kind of a record.
It would be hard to argue that there is a more iconic bike, one that has been drooled over more often by more admirers, than the SuperCorsa. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it has always been designed to encourage the greatest harmony among the three main parts of the frame – the front triangle, rear triangle and fork – and in doing so provide the greatest level of comfort, confidence and control. Consequently, they paid close attention to the stiffness of the tubing, but also the elasticity of the tubes, and how the interplay of the different parts would impact the overall ride quality. With the introduction of the sloping fork crown, the double-bolt fastback seatstays, and then later in the 1980s, the inclusion of the Cinelli Spoiler bottom bracket that effectively solved the problem of corrosion caused by water residue, the SuperCorsa developed into the ultimate classic steel frame with a difference.
Cinelli SuperCosra - Classic Frame with Modern Performance
Built using the same tube diameter that has been used since the 1960s, the SuperCorsa has not stood still in terms of development. The designers have taken advantage of many advancements in steel technology and manufacturing techniques in order to keep the frame feeling like a classic but with a modern level of performance. The 70mm Italian threaded bottom bracket adds that touch of authenticity while the downtube shifter bosses will give you the choice of building it in a classic style or with a more modern brake/shifter combo.
Available in 17 set sizes as well as the option to customize, the Cinelli SuperCorsa successfully harkens back to the old days where ride quality was king, and things like aerodynamics and stiffness to weight ratios were less quantifiable. With its classic appearance, gorgeous build quality and ability to bring joy to anyone who rides it, the SuperCorsa not only reminds us of our past, it also seems to offer a vision of the future.
